Surrender to the Flow

“Surrender to what is.
Let go of what was.
Have faith in what will be.”
Sonia Ricotti

I painted this in 2018. It was one of those pieces that completely flowed out of me — no plan, just a deep surrender to the flow of life’s calling.

While painting, I remember being in a state of calm — a state of intuitive motion. I began to reflect on the movement of a wave. What is it about a wave that’s so mesmerizing? No two waves are ever the same. They’re pulled and pushed, in complete surrender to the natural rhythm of a Godly force.

This painting feels like the wave is curling inward — almost bowing, or kissing something unseen. It holds the feeling of devotion, of trusting the divine current that carries us.

Life is full of ups and downs. The waves don’t stop coming.
Sometimes they arrive calm and serene, other times wild, crashing, and unpredictable.

We can let these waves knock us down, over and over…
or we can learn to ride them.

Surrendering is not weakness — it is strength.
It’s the wisdom of knowing we don’t have to control everything.

If we slow down and attune ourselves to the deeper currents,
maybe we’ll notice something we hadn’t seen before.

We don’t get to choose the waves — but we do get to choose how we move with them.

Life rarely goes as planned.
Things shift, suddenly and constantly.

So we practice flexibility.
We embrace what comes.
We let go… and flow with it.

Who are we to assume we know exactly how things are supposed to unfold?

There is beauty in not knowing.

The choice is always ours:
Will we resist the waves…
or surrender, and discover the joy in letting go?

This painting is a prayer —
for trust,
for transformation,
and for the strength to surrender with grace.

  • 1.How do I know if I should get canvas or paper?

Both canvas and paper have their own unique feel, and they both look incredible. If you are having trouble choosing, go with archival paper.

Think about how you want the end product to hang:

Paper prints are meant to be framed and well protected by easy to clean glass.

Canvas prints can either be framed or stretched on wood by your local framer. A stretched canvas will hang on your wall as an original painting would.

  • 2. Does the print come framed?

Your print does not come framed. It comes rolled up in a tube for maximum protection.

You can take both paper and canvas to your local framer or order a custom frame online.

The size listed is the size of the actual image of art not including the border. Each print comes with an approximately 5 cm border on each side to allow for easy matting, framing, and stretching.

Keep this in mind when buying a frame. For this reason, I highly recommend buying a frame after you receive your print.
