The Phoenix is a mythical bird of eternal life and sacred transformation. According to ancient legend, it was the only creature that did not partake in the original sin of eating from the Tree of Knowledge. In its purity, it was granted the gift of immortality. Once every thousand years, there is a fire in its nest and it burns up in flames — and rebirths itself from the ashes.

In Jewish tradition, this mythic bird is known as the chol — a creature mentioned in Midrash and by Rashi. It’s said that when Eve offered the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge to the animals, all of them ate except the chol, and for that act of restraint, it was gifted eternal life. Rashi describes how the chol lives for a thousand years, then fire rises from its nest and consumes it — and from the ashes, it begins again. These ancient teachings reflect the same cycle of surrender and renewal that the phoenix carries across cultures.

The phoenix is more than a legend. It’s a powerful archetype that lives deep in the human spirit — a symbol of inner renewal, spiritual awakening, and the truth that we can begin again, no matter how much we’ve lost. No one has ever seen one in the wild, yet its story burns bright in our collective imagination, especially during times of grief, growth, and transformation.

Collectively, we’re being called to shed the old skins of illusion, fear, and limitation. To rise from the inner ashes of who we were, and step into who we’re becoming.

The phoenix is a mirror of the soul’s journey — a symbol of resilience, divine purity, and the luminous power of surrender.

Every ending is the seed of a beginning. Fire may seem like it only destroys — but it also clears the way for new life.

And it’s been said that in the time of final redemption, the phoenix will rise once more from the fire — not just as legend, but as a sign that the world is ready to be reborn.

Canvas or Paper?

Both canvas and paper have their own unique feel, and they both look incredible. If you are having trouble choosing, go with archival paper.

Think about how you want the end product to hang:

Paper prints are meant to be framed and well protected by easy to clean glass.

Canvas prints can either be framed or stretched on wood by your local framer. A stretched canvas will hang on your wall as an original painting would.

Framing

Your print does not come framed. It comes rolled up in a tube for maximum protection.

You can take both paper and canvas to your local framer or order a custom frame online.

The size listed is the size of the actual image of art not including the border. Each print comes with an approximately 5 cm border on each side to allow for easy matting, framing, and stretching.

Keep this in mind when buying a frame. For this reason, I highly recommend buying a frame after you receive your print.
